The Creek began as a vision God placed in my heart while I was serving a church in Upstate South Carolina. I began feeling God leading and calling me to do something out of my comfort zone. Up until that moment in my life I had lead two churches, but had never planned on starting a new church. I received calls from friends wanting me to start a church in their area, but God had different plans. He led my family back and me to the Goose Creek area.
By the end of December 2004, I began waiting on God to open the right opportunity to plant our church. Over the next few months God began revealing to me the vision for why The Creek should be here. God revealed that there isn’t a shortage of churches, especially in the Goose Creek area, but The Creek was to be different. It was to focus on relationships with Him and others. The entire heartbeat of The Creek is about caring and connecting with one another.
In July 2005, I resigned from the church I was Pastoring and we moved back home to Goose Creek. I began sharing my vision with others and in July 2006 with just a handful of families we started meeting. Since then we secured a meeting facility (Westview Primary) and in February 2008, we officially launched The Creek with about 45 people. Since then we have been blessed with new families and have grown to around 90-100 in our worship services.
We are excited about the growth, but we are more excited that lives are being impacted and that relationships are being healed with God and with other people. I hope to see you soon at The Creek
